I hope everyone has parties planned, or at least realizes that people wandering the neighborhood on Halloween are not necessarily hoodlums.

I succeeded in finding two newer movies for Halloween, starting with last week’s feature. That challenge, as succinctly described by some of you, isn’t that there aren’t good new movies. There are just not a lot of good unknown movies for free streaming. I accepted that challenge and avoided the slide towards levity again this week. I present to you a double feature and a music link:

  • Sator: This is a slow burn. Country folks and monsters in the forest. Are the creatures monsters, or gods? What happens to the people who disappear? I suggest not looking this up on IMDB or anywhere else until you have watched it. Damn near every review blows some important facts best kept secret. This was written and directed by Jordan Graham who also did Specter in 2012. I very much look forward to watching his back catalog and seeing what he does I the future. Sator is best watched in the dark, with a window open.
  • Intruder (aka Night Crew): If you need immediate choppy-choppy-stabby-stabby action instead of a slow burn, I am including this great classic film. This is a true slasher film with screenplay and direction by Scott Spiegel, who worked a lot with Sam Raimi. In fact he worked so much with Sam Raimi that you’ll see the Raimi brothers in this film as well as Bruce Campbell*! The original story for this was written by Lawrence Bender. Link provided in case you don’t recognize the name. He went on to produce some rather famous films.
  • Halloween is a time for remembrance of the dead, so I am posting this music link. There are many people I remember who were in and worked on that video. Who will you light a candle for on Halloween?

So watch!  Or don’t!  Everything is voluntary!  Next post will be… Something.  I will be in Vegas during this Halloween show so I hope you enjoy.  When I return, so shall our regularly scheduled programming.

*Note to Three Stooges fans:  One of the last appearances of Emil Sitka is in this film.
