All these different networks piss me off. Football should be on regular TV as God and nature intended, because America.
If the NFL balkanizes their products and goes full streaming, as they seem to be, they’re going to fuck themselves in the long run. Getting eyeballs on their product has more value at some point than taking what is necessarily the biggest bid for the contract.
The NFL thinks its too big to fail and it isn’t. It really isn’t. I’m not even going to get into what they’ve done to the product on the field. People keep watching out of habit, gambling, and fantasy sports. But make it to where they have to pay for ten different streaming platforms to watch the games and they will dip. Your next generation having easy access to your product and building the future audience is pretty damn important.
But like a lot of corporations they are incredibly shortsighted. It’s amazing how many stupid decisions corporate America will make. In customer service jobs they’ll completely overreact to one customer who bitches loud enough and give them whatever to appease them, but they’ll still readily implement fifty cost cutting measures that they know are going to piss off consumers. For every asshat that complains to get their way as an exception, ten more are going to walk away without saying a word.

Soccer went almost completely full premium-pay across a dozen different streams over the last decade and it doesn’t seem to have reduced what is available to watch for those who are willing to shell out.
Football has much greater demand and I doubt going full pay-stream would hurt the NFL much at all because enough people will pay for it to keep the dollars rolling in.
Soccer’s entire structure confuses me in general and I’ve never bothered to teach myself anything about it, but it’s barely a blip on the radar of many American sports fans and I’d just take a guess that in Europe it’s on broadcast TV regularly. But a quick search shows me that they’re going down the same path as American sports leagues in the US.
Soccer being a global sport has always been balkanized I’d say? But I’m just looking at this as an uneducated American.
All I know is when I was a kid I had the option of going to a Minnesota Kicks soccer game or going to see Raiders of the Lost Ark in the theaters. I chose Raiders, fuck soccer. Where are the Minnesota Kicks now?
I can only speak to what’s going on in the US and it’s the same in every sport – extract more money from viewers. Fine, whatever. I get it. The rise of streaming made it inevitable.

Has anyone else noticed a glut of stories on the local news about local ICE deportations? I see at least a 2 – 3 per week here. Tonight a tale of woe about a women whose husband was arrested by ICE in October. His wife provided this tale of woe explaining how her husband was not aware he had been officially deported when caught crossing the border in 2012.
“In 2012, that’s when he was 19 years old, he came across with his cousin, or he tried to come across, I should say. His cousin hurt his leg really badly, and Alejandro was like, ‘I’m not going to leave you, let’s just go back.’ So they turned themselves in and were like, ‘Hey, can we go back to Mexico?’ And that was counted as a deportation. He didn’t even know that’s what it was. But that’s the big red flag on his record, one we didn’t learn about until after we were married. We really thought this would be a smoother process, we really did,” said Janie.”

But it is funny because that wouldn’t have counted as a “deportation” under George The Lesser. Obama changed how they count deportations so he could juice the numbers and pretend he was tough on immigration. It wasn’t until his second term that the progs wrestled full control over all narratives in this country and you found Dems backtracking on their at least public support for immigration laws. 😱 I had four objects on the print plate, but I made a stupid mistake in setting things up, so one of them has failed because I didn’t position it in a way that would successfully print. (it needed to be tipped 90 degrees from the way I had it.)
