Anyways so I took my youngest to the gym. He’s taking to the exercises very easily, as this one actually is an athlete. The coordination, body control, and mindset is already there. He didn’t have a great tournament in Cooperstown and we decided since he was old enough for my gym’s insurance carrier, he should start lifting to get his strength level up. They say the hard part is just seeing the ball, so strength coming later is just going to make it easier to get base hits. So we’ll see. He already squats his own bodyweight, I bet I can get him to 95 or 140% by the end of the summer.

The only time I had shoulder problems was when I was doing way too much chest work relative to back work. I increased the back work and the variety of back work, and the problems went away.
It seems to me that “shoulder pressing destroys your shoulder” is the same as “squatting destroys your knees”. Yeah, if you do it wrong.
When you throw a baseball, as unnatural a motion as there is in most sports, the calculus changes because all of the throwing fundamentally changes the shoulder joint.
