So, at one poit I somehow convinced myself that I’d find a rum I’d like to have neat. At this I failed among normal rum. (Spiced rum was fine since it covered the rum flavor). Now I’ve got a bunch of open and lightly tasted bottles of Rum of upper middle shelf quality on average.
I need ideas for using it that don’t involve wastage or more carbs being added.

Rum goes well with no sugar added fruit flavored seltzer water. My go to is Sparkling Ice brand. Peach/Nectarine is my favorite. Or you could use zero sugar Sunkist, or zero sugar A&W root beer. Assuming the artificial sweetener doesn’t turn you off.
I can vouch for Sparkling Ice at least for the artificial sweetener – whatever they use is actually not terrible tasting.

The issue is that your example drinks in that article are chock full of fruit juices and syrups. My “no more carbs” entry was to keep in line with my current diet. I’m already using up the bulk of my carb allowance with regular meals, so even minor additional quantities will cause stumbling blocks.

I leave the substitutions for full sugar beverages to the one who will have to consume the garbage. Lime and lemon juice won’t have much in the way of carbs, people have made simple syrups with artificial sweeteners, so there you go.

At one point we were discussing what we have checked out at our doctor visits. This time my hemoglobin was low, and follow up tests showed low iron. I’m now taking a supplement 3x a week, with Iron, C, B6, and B12. First dose was Monday and I felt great after. Second was this morning, I’m also feeling great. Mood is up, energy is up, and I slept much better the last 2 nights. It hasn’t even had a chance to build up my red cells.
So sometimes you do find something that’s an easy but meaningful fix.

My Titan has parking sensors that work flawlessly in winter but scream at me in the middle of summer when there is nothing close by.
My wife’s Rogue has autobraking. The autobraking has engaged twice in seven years. Both times because the sensor frosted over and there was no traffic in front of the Rogue. When autobraking engages when the road is iced over, it gets interesting quickly.
It’s like auto engineers never fucking worry about erroneous alerts and the consequences of erroneous actions.
I’m glad the worst of this sort of thing is my C-Max is the backup sensor freaking out about grass if it’s too tall.
Our MDX is the reverse. You get the sensors iced up and they scream non-stop.

In our new car, there is a sensor warning you if you are turning or changing lanes and there is a car in your blind spot. It goes off if you are in a double left-turn lane and you (in the right lane) and the car beside you (in the left lane) are both turning – it can’t tell the other car is turning too.
Stack that many alerts and the driver starts ignoring them.
Stack dangerous “assistance” features and people crash or disable them.
We are so far past the point of diminishing returns that these “features” are net negatives.
That’s uncalled for. Both of mine will just disable the feature until you clean the sensors of the build up.
My wife turned off all the lane monitoring alerts in the Rogue. The car is earlier enough that it doesn’t reset all the alerts when you restart the car at a later time.
It’s one of the reason that 2019 is the last model year that I will consider in a vehicle. It’s has some of the safety horseshit, but you can turn it off once and it stays off.
My 2022 leaves them deactivated if you want that.

There was a runtime program for the shareware version and the full. The shareware version only loaded the first level. The full version loaded all the levels. So the level data is most of the 22MB. And you had two runtime environments which were quite small.

Insurers write the car off rather than fix it. That’s bad for consumers who would rather keep a paid-off Tahoe than accept a depreciated insurance payout — and it’s especially painful in a used car market that has been tight for years.

I was just thinking of this the other day. There’s another aspect of enshittification that’s commonly overlooked: failure states. Analog radio/television you would get static, but could still make out most of it. In the case of a failure, it degraded, but was usable. Digital doesn’t have that. Any interruptions get jumps, blocks, hangings, and stutters, being unusable.
Beyond that, you look at items such as software updates and the like. It used to be that if it failed, you would get a reason why (insufficient permissions, write error, something). Now, failures just return “An error has occurred.” Companies used to provide manuals, where you could see how things were supposed to work, and what the different beeps and errors meant. Now, that’s all online, and nearly impossible to find a trusted source for anything that came out more than a year ago.
