Sunday Morning I’m Too Old For This Links

by | Sep 27, 2026 | Daily Links | 73 comments

Homecoming weekend here in the Gulch so we’ve been running at full speed at our café, with overwhelmingly madding crowds. Plus hosting a Dutch visitor. Plus travel. Plus deadlines for articles. Plus a disease that has knocked down half our staff. WebDom is suffering the most, but it’s stressing all of us. Especially the Very Old Guy.

But I shall not suffer for birthdays, as is my tradition, which today include a Founding Father who makes shitty beer; an artist whose craft has been degraded beyond measure; a smarmy solon who at least rid us of the second-worst president ever but was a hilariously inapt Left cult figure;  one of my favorite magicians; another solon who had something in common with Art Garfunkel; a guy who navigated the fine line between genius and insanity– not always very well; a guy who loved cake and was SugarFree’s spiritual father; an unjustly overlooked songwriter and fine guitarist; and the patron saint of Crazy Eyes.

And I am the patron saint of Crazy Links.

Yawwwwwwn.

Prediction: it will turn out to be a couple guys with a pack of Chinese firecrackers. And maybe an assault screwdriver.

Apartheid in action.

There’s still 70% to go.

The Lump speaks. If only he’d say, “Look, there’s no real difference, same guy, different color tie.”

This makes one long for the deep intellectual insights of Trudeau.

Why does anyone even pay attention to this cunt?

This just gets stupider and stupider.

We’re just about desperate enough to hire him.

I’m sorry, this is just totally wrong on multiple levels.

Well, scissor me timbers!

The Old Guy took a break in the action to haul our Dutch visitor and Prime to see one of his favorite living musical acts, who was coming through Buffalo. Two hours of incredibly high energy, brilliant songwriting, and emotional rollercoasters of songs. I mean, when a solo show starts with Tuvan throat singing accompanied by simultaneous heavy guitar and percussion, you know it will not be a conventional evening. Her reaction at the end: “That was WONDERFUL. I thought it would be a good show, but I had no idea that I would like it THIS much!” If Matt comes through your area, I would urge you to experience him live. Oh, and he’s an incredibly nice and funny guy to chat with.

Her kids show on YouTube is very popular.

I suspect Sweet Baby James will not be exposed to it.

That sounds like a brand of BBQ sauce.

      • Old Man With Candy

I will tell WebDom that you want her baby BBQed for his ribs. I hope your will is current.

I hope for his sake that nickname dies out before all his middle school buddies find out about it and tease him mercilessly.

You linked it??? You monster!!! Now, I don’t usually object to your music links, but that’s just inhuman! 😖️

And I had a feeling Tonio didn’t get the reference.

I’m suspecting there will be some serious cosmic payback to Ted S. in the noon post.

“Convicted child killer Shane Ertmoed, who is serving a life sentence, has been granted a 60-day unescorted temporary absence from prison to take cooking classes.

Ertmoed was denied day parole last year because he still posed a risk of serious harm to others.

Ertmoed, then 24, was convicted in 2002 of the sexual assault and killing of 10-year-old Heather Thomas.”

Releasing an unescorted time-traveling murderer sounds like a bad idea.

For an event today, I’m pouring some Cab Franc Appassimento. 15% alcohol, so that should improve the mood.

I went to the local coffee festival yesterday. Fewer people than last year it seemed. Some good coffee but quite price on occasion in the 20 to 40 dollar per 100g range. Also some craft choclate 7 dollars for 50 grams. Bit rich. Tasty though.

I bought me a costa rica anaerobic ( or anoxic if you preffer)

“Crappy husbands: Divorce expert insists men are ‘weaponizing pooping’

Olivia Howell, author of “Divorce Happens,” claimed in a controversial article that men have used the bathroom for extended periods to avoid spending time with their families and to shirk life’s many responsibilities.

“A husband walks through the door as an active member of a family unit, shuts it behind him, and immediately becomes a private citizen,” she wrote in a Sept. 18 Substack post.”

Later, the Pennsylvania senator appeared to misspeak when responding to an audience question about why he would not switch his political identification to “independent” given his breaks with Democrats.

“Because I’m a lifelong Republican,” the senator replied, prompting a quick correction from the Garrett.

That’s actually not that far off the mark if you know his history.

“A rep for Mamdani — a passionate supporter of decriminalizing prostitution before being elected mayor — said he “is committed to partnering with local organizations and neighborhood residents to address conditions on Roosevelt Avenue” and is “using every tool available to the city while treating victims and survivors with the care and dignity they deserve.”

“Our approach must therefore pair enforcement with the support and opportunity that help people build safer, more stable lives,” said City Hall spokesman Sam Raskin.”

    https://nypost.com/2026/09/27/us-news/nypd-making-60-less-arrests-at-queens-notorious-market-of-sweethearts-strip/

Decriminalization is retarded. Make it legal or enforce the law.

    • Common Tater

“They include John Maddox, 52, who was arrested July 29 on Roosevelt Avenue near 98th Street for allegedly offering an undercover cop $20 for sex; and Mario Sanchez, 31, who was busted while allegedly offering $100 to an undercover cop for sex on June 11 near 80th Street, police sources said.”

The alleged johns get their names published, but the alleged hookers get their faces blurred.

    • PieInTheSky

Decriminalization is making it legal. Remove the penalties for it. Many supporters and escorts groups fear legal means government regulated and they dont want that.

      • Common Tater

        “Decriminalization is making it legal.”

        No it isn’t.

“Many supporters and escorts groups fear legal means government regulated and they dont want that.”

“Gen Z Can’t Get Enough Of The ‘Boob Rest’ Pose

Younger celebrities ― Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, Hailey Bieber, Millie Bobby Brown and Zendaya ― have all been photographed on the red carpet with their hand (or hands) casually draped across their chests. Sometimes it’s coquettish, projecting a “oh, you caught me off guard, let me just daintily place my hand here while you take that photo” vibe. Other times, it’s more overt: a full-blown boob grab.”

The NYT reports on the CDC losing its independence and 1/3 of its staff as if that’s a bad thing.

    • Beau Knott

It is. They should have dismantled it and shit-canned those of the staff not suitable for criminal charges.

    • R C Dean

I have not been a fan, at all, of these on-field displays for touchdowns, sacks, whatever.

Just shut ‘em the fuck down again. All of them. They used to be penalties and they can be again.

      • Common Tater

They are also enforced very unevenly. Last year a Giants receiver received a penalty for the first down two-handed point gesture that a bunch of receivers do because it was deemed a gun pose.

    • Oy the Billy-Bumbler

I was watching the game when that happened.
I was rooting against Texas after that.

    • R C Dean

Indeed. One of the many traps of wokism and cancel culture is that they try to whip up hysteria about something supposedly racist or bigoted or whatever, but the rules of wokism prevent them from telling you what it actually was.

      • Ownbestenemy

Ya but it works for the kids and the rage media.
