Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
@NYCMayor

This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.

The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.

Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.

To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

And NYC? Well…

It would be a sad day if someone were to put a hole in his head.

    • bacon-magic

The people that voted for him are worse.

Imagine saying the same thing circa 1948. “After the unfortunate events in Poland, the Low Countries, and France, the Allies launched a devastating genocide against the German people, killing some two million in the process.”

To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

Well? Let’s hear it. What’s your plan?

      • Chafed

        *takes notes*

    • EvilSheldon

Honesty compels me to admit that there are quite a few people in this world who, IMHO, do not deserve to live with freedom, safety, and dignity. Mandami and his repellent whore of a wife both fall into that category.

      • Threedoor

That number is probably around two billion assholes and oxygen thieves.

      • Chafed

There’s no reason to drag down whores by associating them with Mamdami’s wife.

  4. R.J.

What can I even say to that speech? The man is trash who can’t even acknowledge the war without pleading for mercy for the people who FAFO’d.

    • Aloysious: Evil Dark Lord of Wonderful Smooches

New Yorkers and everyone else should hold up pposters with pictures of the bloody aftermath of the Oct 7 slaughter. Israel is not above criticism, but (spits) Hamas is subhuman garbage.

  5. Aloysious: Evil Dark Lord of Wonderful Smooches

I can’t decide if that face is more repulsive when its unsmiling, or has that fake smile painted on it.

    • Gustave Lytton

It’s the smarmy face that knows he can talk smack without getting the 2×4 he deserves across it.

    • rhywun

      The dead eyes – yikes.

    • R.J.

Boy if I can get it, I’ll post it.

I can’t wait to pull the plug on NYC.

    One dollar one vote

The 2026 campaign is shaping up as a referendum on the power of money in American politics. Democrats freely acknowledge their disadvantage, relying instead on anti-Trump sentiment among voters and targeted messaging on issues like corruption. Some Republicans, meanwhile, are open about the challenge of trying to spend their way out of a tough campaign at this late stage.

Ideas? Bah. Who cares about ideas or principles?

    • The Other Kevin

The 2026 campaign is shaping up as a referendum on the power of money in American politics.

This is different from every other election in my life somewhow.

    • Aloysious: Evil Dark Lord of Wonderful Smooches

      Democrats freely acknowledge their disadvantage…

      Unfiltered bullshit.

      • The Other Kevin

They’re either covering their asses because they know the polling is fake, or they’re setting up another narrative where they win because everyone believes in their cause despite the evil Republicans outspending them.

      • Aloysious: Evil Dark Lord of Wonderful Smooches

In my barely informed opinion, with all the conversation about ACTBLUE and overseas donations, to me it reeks of deflection. They might (or might not. I could be wrong) have a pile of money, and don’t want anybody to notice where it comes from.

      • rhywun

Don’t they outspend their opponents every time? I must be misremembering.

      • The Other Kevin

Yeah but rhywun, they’re getting donations from normal every day people who make 638 $20 donations a year.

  7. Threedoor

    Rookie numbers.
I’m going to need at least another zero to care.

Also. Google put up new satalite maps of Gaza. (((They))) missed some stuff.

    • EvilSheldon

I’m going to need at least another zero to approve. Right at the moment, the ‘Palestinian genocide’ is strictly weak sauce.

      • Threedoor

I’m of the opinion of when you go into the land of Canaan you do the things required. And I don’t see those things being accomplished. That’s just me. Wouldn’t regather see harts and minds changed? Absolutely. Sadly seventh century savages need to be treated like seventh century savages or humanity is fucked.

      • juris imprudent

        7th century AD, or BC?

Deuteronomy 10: “When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. 11 If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. 12 If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. 13 When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. 14 As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves.”

        That God, yeah, fuck him.

      • Threedoor

        Same one I follow.

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword“

      • Derpetologist

        Blessed are the peacemakers?

        Turn the other cheek?

Live by the sword, die by the sword?

Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s?

On the whole, JC seems like an apolitical pacifist. Just don’t change any money near the temple. He really hates that.

fun fact: the whole reason there were moneychangers was that the Jewish priests would only accept Tyrian shekels, which were the highest purity silver coins available.

        ***
Many writers have suggested that the Tyre currency was preferred because it did not defy the Decalogue by depicting the graven image of a foreign king, and that is true. But the Tyre coins portray a pagan god of Tyre, Melqarth-Herakles—which was certainly even more offensive!

Images on coins, however, do not contaminate them even for payment to the temple. The Mishnah explains that money is unclean only if it is used for another purpose, such as for jewelry (Mishnah Kelim 12:7). The law stated that the temple must not be shortchanged in any way, so the silver coins of Tyre were most likely mandated because they were of good silver and true weight at a time when many coins were debased or lightweight.

Of course, the moneychangers took a cut. The Jewish priests would have been better off accepting multiple currencies.

      • juris imprudent

I have not come to bring peace, but a sword

I’m not inclined to believe in any supreme being arising out of the Levant.

      • juris imprudent

Live by the sword, die by the sword?

Yeah, oddly enough you don’t have to live by the sword to die by it. Honestly, dying by isn’t as bad as submitting to the motherfucker wielding it.

  8. The Late P Brooks

There’s plenty of evidence that money alone doesn’t translate into victory.

Democrat Kamala Harris entered the final stretch of the 2024 campaign with significantly more money than Trump but went on to lose every critical swing state and the White House. Elon Musk’s $25 million didn’t lift his preferred candidate to a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat last year. And Tom Steyer didn’t advance to the general election in the California governor’s race despite pumping $216 million of his own money into the campaign.

They just weren’t giving their money to the right people.

  9. The Other Kevin

I’m so tired of the political ads. On streaming services, on YouTube, voice messages, text messages…

    • cyto

I have never used the block function before.

I have blocked a half dozen text messaging services in the last 2 days.

Now Google messages is bragging about how many messages it has blocked. Only 14, but it has only been a day.

  10. The Late P Brooks

I’m so tired of the political ads. On streaming services, on YouTube, voice messages, text messages…

How would you know what a monster Trump is if they didn’t constantly remind you?

    • The Other Kevin

They’ve ramped it up. No more “He’ll stand up to Trump”, now they’re just making up ridiculous lies.

      • RAHeinlein

I know both sides use deceptive sound-bites/information to misrepresent records, but I will say this is one of the WORST campaign seasons I have seen and a number of the Dem candidates, PAC’s and SuperPACS are absolutely making-up lies and using sentence fragments (similar to yesterday’s claim that Trump wanted LA and San Diego nuked).

      • The Other Kevin

For me it started with “Trump supports Flock cameras that track women traveling out of state for abortions.”

      • Nephilium

        RAHeinlein:

I’m stuck with Vivek and the loathsome DOCTOR Amy Acton. Both are garbage, The local race? Brian Poindexter and Max Miller. A dude who swallowed crack during a traffic stop and a guy in an ugly divorce with Moreno’s (US senator from Ohio) daughter. Then there’s Husted and Brown…

But I’ll crawl over hot coals to vote against Amy Acton.

    • juris imprudent

In fairness, there isn’t one ad that has convinced me to vote for anyone. Every last one is loathsome. I’m sitting this one out (since there’s no chance my local Congresscritter is going to be unseated by the other party).

      • Threedoor

My stupid senator is doing an ad about as left wing as the commies would do. “Idaho isn’t for sale” I said no to selling any state or federal land because I’m a conservative. Bitch 2/3 of the state is owned by the feds. Sell it all!

    • Aloysious: Evil Dark Lord of Wonderful Smooches

she’d never let those guys touch her. Too homely.

The administration is crowing about stopping a terrorist attack at the Mall of America.

One dude with an AK 47. Wanted to go fight with ISIS in Somalia, but couldnt afford the trip.

This sounds *exactly* like a 70 IQ guy who was “radicalized” by an FBI handler or “informant” and lead by the nose.

    We shall see.

    • cyto

He has been messaging a “confidential informant” since 2024, or when he was 16.

I have a great deal of confidence in my snap judgement now.

      • juris imprudent

Dude, if you create the plot, thwarting is feasible. You try to figure out what someone that ISN’T your patsy is doing, man – that’s hard.

    • rhywun

      It does sound like that.

    • Threedoor

      As they usually are.

  13. Nephilium

I’m not sure if it’s right or wrong that I ordered Indian food to eat while watching the fake Indians play off game.

    • cyto

Was it the same kind of indian food?

      • Nephilium

Fake? We’ll see. It’s our first time ordering from this place, it moved into the place that was our local favorite.

  14. Derpetologist

I had my interview at the bakery today. I don’t have the job yet, but they seem eager to hire me. Looks like I’ll be making donuts. “It’s time to bake the donuts.”

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaxhLf64bh4

Probably should not have mentioned having a bunch different jobs that didn’t last long. I said I didn’t see the point in lying and now I just want stability. The next step is meeting the supervisor.

Looks like my long hair and beard won’t be an issue. I just have sure all my hair stays under the net.

    So I’m cautiously optimistic.

The gal I’ve been texting with says she’ll be in town Monday maybe and wants to move in with me immediately.
    I look forward to that.

    • Threedoor

      Don’t Steve Smith the donuts!

    • Fourscore

“says she’ll be in town Monday maybe and wants to move in with me immediately.”

      Oh-oh.

      • R.J.

Derpy, the safe word is “rimlapper” if you need an extraction.

      • juris imprudent

        He’s hitting on a lesbian?

      • Derpetologist

        No U-Hauls have been mentioned.

        Yet.

BIG FORGETFUL ON MY PART: I’m really really really rooting for Cleveland. Like, really really really. I forgot Chase DeLauter is their right fielder! He’s my uncle’s step-grandson! Were they to win the World Series, they would get many fun things. He’s fairly close to my uncle, who’s close to my mom. It’s a good bet Uncle Joey would be involved in a party or something. Or whatever. I would be on the very tippy tippy tippiest outskirts of a special ring of people. They are well aware of me and my love of baseball.

Now the Cubs are out of it, I have zero barrier. HA! With the universal ‘I’m a Baby Who Doesn’t Wanna Hit’ faggotry, I didn’t have a *reason* for my AL hatred, but I still do, cuz… well, it still kinda makes sense. I hope every team in the AL is below .500. There ya have it.

More importantly, go Cleveland, especially tonight! (This will not happen.)

    • Michael Malaise

As a lifelong Cleveland fan, thank you. This team is not good enough to go all the way but I would love to avoid the sweep.
