US Budget Deficit Hits 5-Year High of $1.99 Trillion

    Can I have 1 …. eh nevermind.

    • Rat on a train

I am sure a D House can get us over the $2T mark.

      • AlexinCT

And the amount of it going to fraud and the left’s insidious anti America organizations that finance all the criminality and the invasion machine, too.

      • R C Dean

An R House can do just as well.

Remember when the Big Booty Bill was going to reduce the deficit?

History will record that DJT’s biggest failure was the blowout spending during his administrations. Wait, history will record DJT’s two biggest failures were the blowout spending, and the COVID response. Hold on, hold on, history will record DJT’s three biggest failures were the blowout spending, the COVID response, and the war with Iran. No, wait, history will . . . I’ll just leave now and let myself back in.

“Elon Musk Pledges to Give ‘Every Kid in America’ 1 SpaceX Share”

The left will complain he is only giving away one share per child, that he is giving honkey children shares, that he should give minorities 2 shares, and that government should have been given the money so they could have taken half of it to finance the NGOs and other entities working to destroy Musk and America…

    • R C Dean

“US Budget Deficit Hits 5-Year High of $1.99 Trillion”

I have it on good authority that the Pachyderms are fiscally responsible!

    • AlexinCT

Nobody will ever be fiscally responsible when to get votes you have to promise people lucre, and the majority of people are voting for who gives them the most. The system is designed to go broke. Until only people with skin in the game get to vote, we are on a doomed trajectory to eventual bankruptcy.

      • ron73440

Nobody is complaining about the amount anymore, it’s what we spend it on.

“Instead of all this money to the military, we should have free health care.”

        …and sooner rather that later…

Inflation is a symptom of the future.

I understand why 2% is built in but I’ve never understood why that is good or acceptable.

      • AlexinCT

Devaluing the debt allows them to keep borrowing more and more, while hoping some major event causes massive GDP jump and growth. The problem is that, based on history, they will then jump their spending by that X factor plus another 20% completely undermining the logic of this stupid model.

The only correction that can give us a chance is for ONLY the people that pay net taxes to get to vote, so these people care more about avoiding government bloat and their money being stolen and pissed away. And that is why we can’t get that. too many people’s income potential is tied to a massive and wasteful government.

      • The Last American Hero

My coworkers believe that the military spending is higher than the social spending. I told them to google it and get back to me. They were convinced their own searches were lying.

      • AlexinCT

You are absolutely correct that the public school system, in order to sell their marxist revolution, has done a great job selling the lie that military spending is the biggest budget problem. The truth is that our biggest spending is the mandatory social services spending (Social Security, Obamacare, Medicare/Medicaid, and other such welfare systems account for over $3 trillion annually). Our second biggest now is the interest on the debt, which has surpassed military spending. And there are other social spending programs that make that $3 trillion plus number go higher. We now know there is massive fraud in all that shit, and I will not at all be surprised the number is in the trillions overall (Hi, national debt!) and is over $1 trillion a year. All going to a machine put together by democrats that has kept them flush with cash to attack the very people producing for the country.

A great argument can be made that military spending might definitely be too high. But in this world where we now face a cabal of humanity haters that have lined us up for an existential change in the balance of power, that potential future fate for Americans that do not want communism, leads to a serious debate. I believe our problem is how and where the money is being spent. Too much of it is going to companies that sell gold plated solutions and do not feel compelled to innovate, cut costs, and deliver quality for less, because for decades they have just made tax payer funded bank.

I remind everyone that any argument about military spending runs into the fact that unlike our social spending, it is a constitutional line item our government is responsible for, too. Unless we restructure our mandatory social spending, especially to cut the fraud that feeds the left, there will be no other recourse to dealing with the debt.

I was feeling good about work and went to sleep thinking *today* would be my Wednesday ‘hump’ day. But it’s only Tuesday. Alas. However, onward and tally ho! I’ve got to figure out this 30min lunch thing. Regardless, I’m gonna have a smoke in my car, so give that 15 min. Really, I only smoke three a day when I’m working (there, lunch and way back), and the privacy it affords, legit Alone Time, is pretty crucial Reset + Reboot time.

Yesterday’s food was a granola bar in the lunch area, chatting a chill dude I worked with in The Vault, before going out to my Kia. Likely similar today, though I may just spend the whole 30 out there and eliminate the wandering ‘commute’ inside. We shall see. Should be a good day.

In a historic referendum Monday, voters marked their ballots in overwhelming numbers to remain in the country that made Alberta a province 121 years ago.

  14. ron73440

Last night, I was watching a video about the Lockheed Constellation.

If you like airplanes, it is a fantastic show. Also Clarence “Kelly” Johnson gets his first job designing planes in it.

It is a beautiful aircraft and a big leap in design.

They let Orville Wright fly it and it was the last time he flew anything.

I wondered what he was thinking about the huge changes that had been made in the 40 years since he and Wilbur made the first flight.

then I thought about the 40 years after that and more innovations as we went to jet planes.

It occurred to me that we have been rather stagnant since.

Sure, the planes are larger, safer, and more reliable, and those are all great.

A plane from the 1980’s and a plane from today look very similar and the same cannot be said for planes from the ’40’s and the 80’s.

Have we reached the pinnacle of airplane design?

    • Ted S.

To be fair, there’s that pesky sound barrier….

    • kinnath

Have we reached the pinnacle of airplane design?

What part of the design? There have been massive improvements in materials, engines, efficiencies, and automation over the the last 4 decades that I have been working as an engineer.

Shape-wise? Yeah, they all look mostly the same and will continue to look the same until we go to blended wing bodies or something similarly radical.

      • ron73440

Shape-wise? Yeah, they all look mostly the same and will continue to look the same until we go to blended wing bodies or something similarly radical.

        That’s what I meant.

Now there are improvements, but no game changing designs.

It seems that we have found the shape for the best efficiency while carrying the most people.

      • kinnath

Nope. The current shape is driven largely by the total fear of trying to get a new design (like the blended wing) through the certification process. Oh, and the entire infrastructure of airports and gates is designed to support the current shape.

      • ron73440

Oh, and the entire infrastructure of airports and gates is designed to support the current shape.

That would be an incentive to keep the same designs for sure.

That was part of the challenges when they were designing the Constellation, fixing the tail so it would fit into TWA’s hangars.

      • tripacer

Tail-mounted engines disappeared, ala MD80 or 727. Easier to do engine maintenance while standing on the ground. Probably other reasons as well.
Last year I was at the Aurora, OR airport doing training for my new job, and got to watch the Connie from the museum next door take off on its way to Oshkosh. It’s quite a sight and sounds amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXZ7X9LX9gc

Brilliant designs constructed in ways that stretched the capabilities of construction and materials to the limit back in the day. Resulting in beautiful houses that have turned into maintenance nightmares.

    • rhywun

But to be fair, he did design more to please himself than his clients.

      • (((Jarflax

I used to do this, and did it successfully without a burn probably a hundred times. Then there was the one time when I learned 1. that alcohol flames can be invisible but still burning, 2. that once enough of the alcohol vapor had burned away the flame would burn the residue on the skin, and 3. that it can take a full year to stretch your pinky skin back to the point where you can straighten it if you melt it doing this trick.

    • ron73440

The fire challenge is when a participant “douses his or herself in a household accelerant such as isopropyl alcohol or acetone, sets him or herself ablaze, and attempts to extinguish the flames before serious burns are incurred,”

Honest Sydney Morning Herald article about the French riots.

    @CroweDM
: “Every action is dominated by men in their late teens and early 20s, almost all wearing black uniforms. Young women can also be seen in the crowd, but they are in the minority among those provoking the police.

When the masks are lowered, the faces reflect modern France: this skin tones are white, black and brown. But the white faces are relatively rare. The crowds are overwhelmingly made up of young men who are new to France or born to migrant families, although there is no time to stop and ask whether their French citizenship goes back on, two, three or more generations.

This is a delicate subject because of the argument about whether the riots in France are caused by migration. Donald Trump insists that they are; his critics say they are not. The debate about causation is surely complex. But it is important to be honest about the reality in the streets, rather than waving away what is obvious to every passer-by in Paris.”

“A Halloween display outside a home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is drawing backlash from some residents and the local NAACP, which says the decorations evoke America’s painful history of racial violence.

The display, outside a home in Bristol Borough, features what appear to be bodies wrapped in black bags hanging from a tree.”

      Homeowner Refuses to Back Down

Good. The NAACP bullies can get bent.

Didn’t a dude in Kentucky get charged for bodybags with politician positions (no names) on them…

Why yes..there was. Still being held in jail for ‘terroristic’ threats.

Ya he is in a dispute with the county on another matter, but when the State wants to fuck with you, they will fuck with you.

    • cyto

They run this gambit every year now.

I wonder why anyone covers the NAACP anymore.

They were on the local news for something about their voter outreach this week. 3 minute segment of race-baiting and partisan political electioneering disguised as a piece about the local NAACP actually having some issue worth covering. Can’t even remember what it was. That part of the story lasted about 5 seconds.

What he needs are some ghosts around the bodies …

“Former Minnesota congressional candidate AJ Kern says she possesses a Certificate of Non-Existence of Record from the Department of Homeland Security confirming that federal databases contain no naturalization records for Rep. Ilhan Omar’s late father, Nur Omar Mohamed (also referenced with variants such as Nur Said Elmi Mohamed).”

    What a great family.

      What a great agency.

Best case scenario: they simply lost some records.

Worst case: they granted citizenship to a whole family based on entirely fraudulent applications – all issued at different times.

“WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors are planning to use DNA evidence to try to prove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) committed immigration fraud, as part of the sprawling investigation into the congresswoman, sources told The Post…..

One source said the DNA evidence was critical to proving an allegation that Omar married her brother when she wed Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2009 because she was trying to help him get a green card — which never came to fruition.”

Surprisingly, Uma Musume is actually an entertaining franchise.

Just about every young voice actress in Japan has done one of the characters. My expectation would be logistical as opposed to real immigration concerns with any of the performers.

This just seems like an easy (and Japanese) way to deflect blame.

He was not required to register for membership and follow their LINE account, nor did she ask him for his point card.

Spot on. I don’t think I could live in Japan as I don’t think I could take the supermarket. The point card focus + musical selections would probably drive me nuts.

So, a Canadian journalisimist wanted a story, so he vandalized the bust of some Uke folk hero and “reported” on it — claiming it was the work of some unknown righteous dude. His paper strongly approved of the vandalism.

Apparently the local mounties thought something was hinky and charged said journalisimist with doing the vandalism, and he later confessed to doing it.

This horrible persecution of journalismists provoked outrage!

    Naturally, this is Trumps fault.

“On October 25, 2022, Edmonton police charged a journalist with vandalizing a monument to the fascist Roman Shukhevych at the Ukrainian Youth Unity Complex. This act constituted someone writing “Actual Nazi” on the statue of the man who perpetuated a genocide of 100,000 Polish and Jewish people.”

Why is he a folk hero?

The most surprising thing I have seen about the French riots is the description of the rioters as “left wing”. I had assumed they were all extreme right wing nationalists.

    • Not Adahn

I have literally seen Europeans praise the rioters saying “left wing hooligans break glass, right wing hooligans break bodies.”

    • rhywun

We’ve reached the “yes, it’s left-wing and it’s a good thing” stage of the narrative.

      • cyto

Nick Shirley did a man on the street in the riots yesterday.

Some young lady was telling him about antifa and how the country needs a revolution…. she blamed the US and Trump for the conditions and unrest in France.

We had a French goodbye on our deck this morning.

Sensei: “I still laugh about what an idiot I was.”

I used to win a lot of bachelor party story contests with my “I still laugh about what an idiot I was.” stories.

Probably the most lethal was the “make a black powder cannon” incident.

See… my friend’s dad shot muzzle loaders. And we were 12-13 years old. And unsupervised.

So we made makeshift bombs from the paper bottoms of coat hangers and rocket fuses. Like a big firecracker.

Pretty dang powerful. We would build dams back in the woods and then blow them up a few days later when they had filled up. Great fun.

    So…

One day we get the idea to make a cannon.

See, he found this hunk of galvanized pipe and an end cap in the garbage pile at a construction site.

And being the geniuses we were….

We screwed the cap on real tight. Now, we arent idiots. We knew that cap might not be strong enough.

So we tightly folded some notebook paper and jammed it down tight with a broomstick. Probably 2 inches worth.

Only then did we load the powder.

Luckily, his older brother came by and asked how much we planned to use before we went ahead. “Maybe just an inch or so to start”

    “No-no-no-no-no!”

Finally. A sane voice had joined the chat.

“You just use like a quarter teaspoon”

    Oh.

So not actually sane … just less stupid.

So in goes the black powder. And then we ram a whole bunch of notebook paper on top.

    Really tight.

    Now what?

We didnt have a hole for a fuse or anything.

    Hmmmm

So I grab some rubbing alcohol and pour a little down the pipe.

Now, I should mention that we are talking about a 4 foot section of pipe here.

So anyway, we lean the pipe against a huge oak out back, held in place by a couple of small branches.

    Now what?

We had used cigarette delay fuses before. But this didnt seem like it would work.

So I broke the stick off of a bottle rocket, angled it just on the edge to fire down the pipe….

    I lit it…

    Turned….

    Made one step….

    And BOOOOOM!!!!

I could feel the heat on the back of my neck.

We turned back to look ….

A good 2 feet of bark and 2 1 inch thick branches were missing from the tree.

    Yeah.

Really close to dead that time.

    It’s a conundrum

“The underlying problem is that politicians are not able to offer hope of a better life for many Europeans because the economy is growing only slowly and governments have built up huge debts, leaving them little scope to support higher public spending or to cut taxes,” Capital Economics’ Kenningham said.

Unfortunately, no one knows how this happened, or how to counteract it.
