All Saints Day Morning Links

Six years ago this morning my third son graced us with his presence. Our Punnett Square blue-eyed boy. But other than that, it’s been another long weekend. Nothing like having 6 and 4 pumped up for candy and waking up at 5am. Which will be 5am this morning. Fucking government time.

I fall firmly in the “shall not be infringed” camp. Means elected officials do not get to pass laws limiting my right to keep and bear arms.

I foresee OnlyFans in her near future.

He chose… poorly

For G-Money, his go to.

About The Author

Brett L

Brett L

Brett set out to find America, the real America, the America of strip malls and serial killers, of butthole waxing and kelp smoothies, of cocaine and maggots. He sought it in the most American part of America—Florida: swamp gas and fever dreams, where love arrives on a rickety boat and leaves when it doesn't have the money for its fourth abortion. Oh, where has Brett gone? He’s drinking at the neck of America’s wang, chewing its foreskin and working its shaft. Brett is becoming legend. Brett can never die. Brett can never die. Brett is America, facedown in his own patriotic puke: the red his blood, the white his stomach lining, and the cold, cold blue his gas station slushie, spiked with coconut rum and tetracycline.

Top costume last night was a kid dressed as Tom Cruise from Tropic Thunder.

Kid that was awarded most and best candy knew my costume of Cousin Eddie from Christmas Vacation.

It’s a problem with democracy, when the elected officials make contrary decisions to individual freedoms and the only recourse is to try to have unelected officials sort it out.

Election time and we’re seeing the same arguments. Either we’re responsible for our choices in life or we’re not, nothing in between.

  5. juris imprudent

Why shouldn’t citizens, acting through elected representatives, be allowed to make this decision for the community?

Absent government, what mechanism would those citizens have? None. They can’t force their neighbor to go to church, nor to abstain from alcohol, nor any of a myriad of other things that they are certain would make their neighbor a better person, and their community a better community.

There is no beneficent sovereign authority – not in “the people”, not in a legislature, not in a king or despot, and not in some mystical being.

    • EvilSheldon

The stolen base in this claim is, “…acting through elected representatives,”.

The idea that an elected ‘representative’ is going to represent the will of the electorate is infantile fantasy.

      • juris imprudent

No, that’s just the gloss on the first lie – that collectively there exists authority that doesn’t exist in any of us. It’s why “consent” is bullshit as a basis of government; when did you ever consent to this governing? When are you able to withdraw that consent?

We submit, we don’t consent – that’s a real difference.

“Undercover agents with the Placer County Sheriff’s Office Operations Unit conducted a two-day sting where they contacted sex buyers throughout the county. The operation busted 21 men cited for soliciting prostitution, the sheriff’s office said….

“Human trafficking is complex, and there is no single approach to addressing it,” the sheriff’s office said.

“In Placer County, law enforcement and our community partners work from several different angles, including identifying and supporting survivors, investigating traffickers and addressing the factors that can contribute to exploitation.””

    https://nypost.com/2026/10/31/us-news/21-men-busted-in-place-county-prostitution-sting/

Apparently, all prostitution is trafficking now because women have no agency.

    • juris imprudent

That’s about 90% of trafficking busts – ordinary prostitution. It’s been that way a while. Oddly, you know where you never hear about trafficking busts – those parts of Nevada where prostitution is legal.

The gambler is horrible poker advice. You always count ypur koney at the table, you need to know your stack size.

Then again back in the day most players were just gamblers no skill

I have to say first time i heard of braggot as a beer style

      • Nephilium

To get technical, it’s a beer style and a mead style. It’s a mead made with wort (sweet malt liquid) or a beer made with honey depending on the percentages of each. Here in Ohio, if it’s made with 51%+ sugars coming from honey/fruit it can only be made with a winery license, 51%+ sugars coming from malt it can only be made with a brewery license.

A couple smaller places have bitched about needing to adjust recipes for some batches.

      • PieInTheSky

        winery license … brewery license.

        How very unlibertarian

      • EvilSheldon

If we ever needed a clearer lesson in the inherent faggotry of liquor licensing.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale. It should be there by now, right?

“PEEKSKILL, New York — Betsy Abrams, a 67-year-old executive assistant, showed up at a political rally held in a park on the banks of the Hudson River wearing a shirt that read, “Sit over there, I don’t need your mansplaining.” She was also holding a stack of yard signs for Cait Conley, the Democratic challenger in New York’s 17th Congressional District….

Conley told Lawler: “I do not need you to mansplain to me what sexual assault and domestic violence against women is and the appropriate response. Don’t start. Sit over there.””

    https://www.salon.com/2026/11/01/a-democrat-told-her-opponent-not-to-mansplain-it-struck-a-chord-partner/

This reminds of a joke: A young priest asks a wise older priest, “What’s the difference between the Jesuit and Dominican Orders?” The older priest says wearily, “Well, actually they have a lot in common. They were both founded by Spaniards, St. Dominic for the Dominicans, and St. Ignatius of Loyola for the Jesuits. They were also both founded to combat heresy: the Dominicans to fight the Albigensians, and the Jesuits to fight the Lutherans.” The younger priest says, “I see. But where do the Jesuit and Dominican Orders really differ?” The older priest looks at him and says, “Well, have you met any Albigensians lately?”

How many Flock cameras does the department have under contract?

  12. PieInTheSky

No, prices are not signals and do not transmit any relevant information. Prices are only exchange ratios of the past which help as a tool for economic calculation

Just as as a note: prices, qua exchange ratio, are relevant data for economic calculation: it’s important to know what your costs are. But prices do not carry any information about preferences, valuations or scarcity, as Hayek and the hayekians argue.

    https://x.com/MartinCGamazoR/status/2116704527600537757

I would say that secondery market prices for e.g bourbon or event tickets do carry info about prefference valuation etc…

    • Nephilium

Very much so. Look at ticket prices for sporting events. The prices rise and fall with the future of the team.

I would also point to the futures market, but that level of comprehension is likely beyond him.

An OT for EvilSheldon if he is still around. I bought a couple holsters for the G43X.

An inexpensive OWB kydex for general use and a Tenicore for IWB. Not cheap, but you really do understand both where the money went and that they obsess about every angle and form. Also why they have limited guns they make holsters for.

Still been adjusting the thing and wearing it around the house unloaded. Lots of options. Easy to recommend, but you’ll pay.

    • Sean

If it’s not custom made for you leather, what are you even doing?

      😋

      • UnCivilServant

        Getting something that’s functional.

      • Sensei

        Plastic pistol. Plastic holster. QED.

      • UnCivilServant

Sensei, you’re supposed to use a metal holster on the plastic pistol.

        Brass or anodized aluminum.

      • Sean

You weirdos probably have ridiculously fat wallets you sit on too. You want functionality and comfort. Leather will mold itself to your body. Kydex never will.

    • EvilSheldon

Well done. There are only a handful of really good IWB holster companies, and Tenicor is one of the OGs.

(The others are PHLster, JM Custom Kydex, Keepers Concealment, Henry Holsters, and Dark Star Gear.)

Wearing your holster around the house for a while is also a good idea. It’s like breaking in a new pair of boots.

Why shouldn’t citizens, acting through elected representatives, be allowed to make this decision for the community?

The “social contract” is a monstrous lie.

      • juris imprudent

Slavery is a form of social contract as well.

  15. PieInTheSky

This receipt from Roman Egypt records all the costs associated with the transport of 16.5 metric tons of wheat by river. It includes a base cost (44 dr) and a host of supplementary fees which, put together, actually exceed the base cost of shipping the wheat (47 dr).

The various supplementary costs include taxes, examination dues for the shipment, fees for clerks, an affidavit fee, and a charge for writing the receipt itself. Financial costs relate to money exchange and bankers. There are payments for an interpreter and for guards (both on land and sea) for the boat. Other costs cover damage to the boat, religious expenses such as a libation, and a fee “To Artemis,” which is likely a temple tax.

    https://x.com/lefineder/status/2116635324138803598

    • UnCivilServant

I’m going to be honest, when most of the population is illiterate, paying the scribe to draw up the accounts so you can accurately report expenses to whoever financed the trip is a legitimate expense.

Most of those other fees are bullshit.

  16. Q Continuum

That gun article sounds deeply philosophical but it’s not. Paraphrasing the founders, fundamental rights are given to the individual by the Creator and no action by Man (including democratically elected representatives) can abridge that right. However, even those rights recognized as fundamental are subject to modification within the Constitution; just amend the fucking document to get rid of 2A. But they know they’ll never get enough support for that, so they have to play gay little games with semantics and pseudo-intellectual, tortured POMO analysis of the “true intent” of the document. “Shall not be infringed” is straightforward and plain English. Only a lefty lawyer can find wiggle room in that.

    • UnCivilServant

Why would I want to watch Netflix propaganda? I can tell you what misrepresentations they went with, and I just heard of this.

  17. The Late P Brooks

Paraphrasing the founders, fundamental rights are given to the individual by the Creator and no action by Man (including democratically elected representatives) can abridge that right.

    The facts contradict you.
