As I write this, I will note I slept like absolute shit the night before. You see last night we got some rain…
This is my review of MKE Louie’s Demise Amber Ale:

…Now in my youth I would find rain to be soothing, mellow, and frankly help me drift into my slumber waking up refreshed. Now? I have a dog. This dog is disturbingly afraid of the weather. So when a thunderstorm passes this feeling from my youth is replaced by a pit bull panting hot, rancid dog breath, while drooling incessantly until he can no longer hear the storm. Given he’s a dog this is two hours after the storm passes. Seriously, he leaves puddles and my wife is washing our sheets as I write this.
For the rest of you, who deal with this at least twice a year due to daylight savings time…now you won’t have to if this law passes! Seriously, they haven’t been able to pass a clean budget in decades but this is something they can agree to mess around with.
Before anyone chimes in with their opinion or preference for which version you prefer and therefore we must all abide by, I would like to point out a few incontrovertible facts:
- You are not saving energy, because you are running your goddamn AC 24/7 (MURICA!)
- Anyone telling you this with a straight face is a fucking retard, or wants people to die
- The number of hours of daylight in any given day is determined by your relative location on the Earth, and the season
- Anyone telling you otherwise is a fucking retard, but most importantly
- There is nothing stopping you from taking advantage of your preference for the number of daylight hours in the morning or afternoon, by waking up earlier or later to fit your personal preferences
Unless of course you are a shift worker then none of this matters to you at all. Critics of this bill, like me, probably already have blackout curtains, attic insulation, and perform the necessary maintenance to ensure the longevity of your AC (*waves at Yusef*). Other detractors like the airline industry seem to think this will take an absurd amount of time to implement, but I’m not a pilot. Others are taking the collaborative approach and came up with a really odd compromise:

Ultimately, these are politicians that seem to believe they can dictate every intricacy of your existence down to when you wake up, and go to sleep.
I’m so fucking tired. 😑
Louie, Louie
Oh, no, you take me where ya gotta go
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby
Louie, Louie
Oh, baby, take me where ya gotta go
A fine little girl, she waits for me
Me catch the ship across the sea
Me sailed that ship all alone
Me never think I’ll make it home
Oh, Louie, Louie
Oh, no, no, no, take me where ya gotta go
Oh, no
Louie, Louie
Oh, baby, take me where ya gotta go
(Fuck!)
Three nights and days I sailed the sea
Me think of girl constantly
On that ship, I dream she there
I smell the rose in her hair
Louie, Louie
Oh, no, me gotta go
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, baby
Okay I’ll stop. MKE Louie’s Demise Amber Ale: 3.3/5

Just pick one and stay with it. I hate the time change.

EVERYTHING NOT MANDATORY IS PROHIBITED
Aren’t chihuahuas disturbingly afraid of everything? Or are they born with some kind of canine Parkinson’s?
I’ve met a couple that weren’t afraid of anything. At all. They would throw down with any and every thing that came within range.
Some old neighbors of mine had a chihuahua that was so fearless that when they were walking it one night, it broke out of it’s collar to attack a coyote. Didn’t end well.
Party boat diplomacy
Several hundred protesters marched Friday against the arrival in Venice of the billionaire American ambassador’s luxury yacht, briefly clashing with riot police as they neared the vessel.
Activists described hospitality mogul Tilman Fertitta’s arrival as an unwelcome display of American wealth and influence at a time when many Italians see the Trump administration upending the post-World War II international order.
——-
In Venice, many of the same groups that protested the wedding last year of Jeff Bezos to Lauren Sanchez mobilized against Fertitta’s arrival aboard the 117-meter (384-foot) luxury yacht, Boardwalk, which features two helipads, a pair of swimming pools and a fully equipped spa and gym.
Let the hate and envy flow.
Wherein we learn that “many Italians” are envious commie Antifa ratfuckers.
Italy seems to have a long history with fascism for some reason.
How many giraffes would that be?
Height of the boat above waterline would be measured in giraffes.
Length in football fields.
Draft in bananas.
Displacement in elephants.
Imperial units for the win.
My weirdest DST experience was many years ago when I was living in Richmond, IN, and occasionally substitute teaching at an elementary school that straddled the OH/IN state line back when IN didn’t observe DST. (Seriously – the state line ran down the center of the basketball court in the gym. I don’t know who thought that was a good idea.) They had students from both states, but I think more were on the OH side, so they went with OH times. (The OH side of the school also sat in – or at least had students from -two OH counties, so every time I subbed there, I got three checks – one from IN and two from OH.)
And had to file taxes in both places no doubt.

You’re talkin’ crazy.
Be self employed.
Homeschool.
I cannot sleep past 5:30 am. I’m rarely not up at 5:00. I’d love to sleep until 6:00, but it ain’t happening.
We used to sleep with the curtains open so as to have the sun wake us up. New house kitty corner to ours with crazy lights as well as one a full 1200’ away that replaced the 100wt incandescents outside with LEDs ended that habit with a quickness. It’s hard to sleep at all with blue light shining into the bedroom.
It’s more important to have the near infrared at night than in the morning.
And if northern Idaho goes to mountain time I’m starting a war.
The time zone split needs to be between mountain home and Boise. Not north of Riggans.
@ToG, please email me. moriah at moriahjovan dot com.
I know youre easibly reachable but yes I was thinking similarly.

Anyone want a tank?
I’m out.
Deviled breach block, no thanks.
But I do know a guy in the area with a tractor and a lowboy…
Demilled. Damn autocowreck.
Takes a cool million off the price tag.
I liked teaching 2 or 3pm to 10 or 11pm in non-holiday hours in Korea. Last class dismissed at 10:55pm. (Law now, they can’t go past 10pm. Pussies.) Afterward, ex-pats+ had plenty to do, often band practice, for me. Out until 3 or 4 wasn’t unheard of. Still get ~8hrs sleep, wake up past noon, and be fresh for students after they were done with normal school.
That shit was proper. My 5am-2pm shifts at Walmart weren’t terrible, but 6am-230pm at plasma centers was shit, mostly cuz it was a busy 40min commute. I suppose my 9-5 now is a decent midway point. I’d likely prefer an 8 to 4, but work is also only 5 min away, now. (Many Cubs home games at 2:20pm. That timing certainly eased the ‘burden’ at Walmart.)
Daytime sucks. Not cuz the daylight, but cuz all the other people are still ‘in tune’ with that cycle. (Habitual training, transformed into their existential Way of Being.) Out in the 9-5, everyone is out *doing* things before they’re done w ’em. Hours outside of that are populated with far fewer folk, more space for me and my kind. It’s quite simple.
5-2 isn’t bad.
I did 4-230 on a rock crusher. It was great. Off early enough to enjoy five or more hours of sunshine and open businesses in the places I was working after I took a shower.
The male pit bulls I’ve had were all afraid of thunder and fireworks and the like (I think, the first one maybe not). None of the females cared.
The Adorapup(tm), an Aussie, cares not at all about thunder.
This weeks Santa Fe Brewing selection is a limited “seasonal” beer – a dark Mexican lager. As always with those guys, pretty dang good.
I have cats. They don’t care. They do go crazy when I open a door to go outside which gets obnoxious.
Ask an egghead
Voters in California will decide in November whether to impose a one-time, 5% tax on residents and trusts with a net worth of more than $1 billion.
The proposal is deeply controversial, with opponents on both sides of the aisle warning that passage of the measure — the first of its kind in the U.S. — would be a body blow to the state’s competitiveness. But one of the authors of the proposal insists California will be just fine.
“California will, I think, more likely be better off if this is passed than not,” said University of Missouri law professor David Gamage, who helped craft the proposal for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which led the drive to get it on the ballot.
Of course it’s a good idea. What a stupid question.
“One-time”.
*guffaws, slaps knee*
Every sentient taxpayer in California knows if something is taxed once, then it will be taxed forever.
If there is anyone who knows what is good for California, it’s the nice folks at the Service Employees International Union.
Congratulations, you have won the most sarcastic comment of the day! At least so far.
The asshole is from Missouri so he won’t have to absorb the downside if the “ballots counted” enable this to occur.
“Show me” state my bollocks.
Well alrighty then, as long as you’re sure about this.
Passing wealth taxes legalizes FULL audits of assets/property for EVERYONE. Allegedly income below the threshold – PROVE you don’t “other” property/assets above the threshold. Farmer – nice LAND you have there…
This is so much bigger than the obvious illegal seizure.
Yes to all of that. An underreported aspect of this proposed tax is that it is not fixed at one billion. It allows the state legislature to lower the threshold.
5% of a billion+ will cover a lot of legal fees.
The retroactive nature of a law that hasn’t even been voted on yet is surely ripe for challenge.
I have a general autocorrect for software I use outside of Word (e.g., EditPlus, WordPress, Glibs, etc.). It’s pretty good. Not what I’m used to (i.e., Word), and has a few quirks I’m learning/working around, but it has the stupidest fucking name I’ve ever heard and it grates. Yes, I have better things to stew over, but this is like the tiniest pebble in my shoe.
aBreevy8
Yes. Really.
FURTHERMORE! I actually published one of my clients under my B10 Mediaworx banner because it wasn’t going to get done any other way. He’s 88, functionally blind, technologically stunted, and I suspect he’s difficult for the people in his life to deal with. I’m pretty sure his regular computer guy is fed up with him. So I thought, “Well, there are worse things to put out into the world that some arcane philosophy pins and angels.” So I spent several ISBNs on this and got him online and got him set up with a website. This week I’ve been teaching him the joys of blogging. I made it clear I was doing this as a service, NOT as a royalties-paying publisher because I didn’t choose his work for publication. He said he was fine with that.
But now, the few friends he has are getting into his ear about my duties as his publisher. Fuck. Me. I swear, if I could market my OWN books, I wouldn’t be doing this job. I’m not about to try to market this. So I had to reiterate that this is a SERVICE, although I didn’t tell him it was because he’s old and blind and this is pretty much his white whale, so I thought I’d give him a hand.
How much is he expecting to make in royalties?
HE thinks he should make a ton, but hell, that’s what we all think. I have spent quite a great lot of time trying to manage expectations.
I am utterly unsurprised. The people for whom I’ve done no charge legal work have been among my most difficult clients.
Also-
a one-time, 5% tax on residents and trusts with a net worth of more than $1 billion.
I had not noticed the “and trusts” part before. I assume there will be an exemption those engaged in approved public service and civil society activities.
“One time.” I can’t believe those people don’t burst into flames when they say that.
“This policy will not provide the sustainable and long-lasting funding that our schools and communities deserve,” wrote the California Teachers Association last month.
But some California billionaires have no problem with the tax.
The teachers want it all.
Those poor public spirited billionaires. They’d like to do something but they currently are prohibited from voluntarily sending a check for a few million dollars to Sacramento.
The schools need to be razed and the teachers unions need to face the giblet.
They’re welcome to bequeath their wealth to the state.
And there ya go. The drumbeat has already started for it to be annual, not “one-time”.
Is this the “billionaire” tax proposal that is really for holdings of $100MM and up?
With any luck, there won’t be any of either group left.
I wonder if the voters ever ask themselves why “sustainable and long-lasting” really just means “exponentially increasing until the end of time”.
Time is merely the paper upon which we write our Firsts in an infinite loop.
time is a flat circle
All firsts and no play, make Broch a dull boy.
Well, he’s never actually had a first, so no dullness.
I couldn’t tell you what will set my pit bull off or make him scared. One day it’s this, the next he couldn’t care less.
You might as well ask a magic 8-ball.
He doesn’t like shit being shoved up his ass though. That’s a constant.
I strongly suspect a dog in my 5-10yr future. I lean towards a small to mid-sized beagle-ish creature. I can also easily predict a lead-off cat, but less certain. I’m quite certain where I live’ll play a massive role in this.
My dog is the sort of dog who, despite not being the largest (roughly 60 lbs), he makes up for it in crazy and tenacity.
He’d become a warlord amongst dogs if he went to doggy daycare or the pound. He’s not afraid to throw down with anyone or anything to include me.
Speaking of stupid dog ticks….
In Livingston, there is a little “park” (strip of grass owned by the city) on Park Street (no relation). There are a couple of picnic tables, and a bunch of gophers. A friend told me someone she knew was driving down Park Street one fine summer day in her giant ranch truck with her windows down and her Jack Russel terrier on the seat next to her.
The dog spotted gophers running around, and whoosh! right out the window he went. He didn’t get hurt too badly, just scuffed up some. It didn’t make him any smarter.
We had a dachshund do that when I was a wee child. Convertible Mustang, and the dog was fine. Surprisingly.
This is probably satire I think, but the fact that you have to wonder says a lot about where we’ve gone.
On a similar note, I saw some video from some “I fucking love science!” type talking about the origin of aids. They called the Patient 0/O story a complete fiction. A lie meant to demonize a stigmatized minority group etc.
The guy in question claimed thousands of sexual partners and could actually identify large numbers of them. This was true of many, many of the earliest diagnosed gay men. Gay men will openly talk about how wildly out of control the sexual coupling was in this period.
The idea that he was the first one with it here or anywhere is obviously not true. He may not even have played an exceptional part in spreading it as an individual (if only because his behavior wasn’t abnormal in that “community”). But he sure as shit was emblematic of why it became a pandemic at such such in the West.
The guy was diagnosed. They told him the consequences of continuing to engage in wanton sex with men in their ass. He continued to do so.
Guy is not a victim no matter how you spin it unless your mind has been destroyed by leftism.
And no where in this video claiming to explain the truth about AIDs did the cunt making it even speak on the reality of who was and is most likely to contract it. Yea it isn’t gay exclusive, but if you aren’t telling people that gay sex is far more likely to spread it than hetero relations you are a dishonest cunt.
Receptive sex, with receptive anal sex in particular, is the prime vector for transmission (as if that’s so fucking unexpected, you don’t need a medical degree to figure out why). So exclusively hetero men, while not being risk free, were at literal orders of magnitude lower risk than women and especially receptive gay men. But we couldn’t possibly say that because reasons.
Speaking of dogs, (Mr.) Peabody’s made a miraculous improvement this year. To start the year, I was giving him maybe 3-6mo left. Couldn’t get up any stairs, was in a lot when he tried. He got another hip injection, quite similar to one I got, and after a few months of whatever the hell was going on, he’s so much more spry, now. He’s going up-UP stairs to the office and near master bedroom to sleep. He hasn’t been up there in years.
He also has a really big, grapefruit-sized lump on his inner back left leg. Kinda below that, he has another red sack of balls growing out his thigh. He loves to lick ’em. And the juice they leave on his sleeping mat. He’s got to get another something-shot, and the vet this week says it’s no problem to remove it/them. Huh. Apparently, they aren’t even gonna put him out, they said, and he won’t feel a thing. This sounds like insanity, but Mom’s going along w it, despite the price. It’ll be their last, but “that’s what ya do when ya love ’em,” she added.
He’s had a tremendously happy 16yrs. And a couple years ago, he helped rescue me when I had a seizure in the woods walking him, so that’ll be a rough subtraction. However, again, he’s had a fucking great run on this planet.
Oh, E, you brave thing. I won’t condole you for now. Just sucks, doesn’t it.
Oh, it’ll be remarkably teary when it comes. Especially if it comes during a fall, or similar. But it’s coming soon. But it’s a solid consolation prize. He had a long, happy life with a positive legacy. That’s a good way to get pulled from the game.
Enjoy the moments one has.
Today, in responsible philanthropy
While Warren Buffett found Bill Gates’ ties to notorious sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein “distasteful,” he says his decision to end future contributions to the Microsoft co-founder’s foundation was driven by his three children demonstrating they are now able to responsibly give away “vast sums of money.”
How will the Gates foundation survive?
I won’t take these people seriously until, among other things, Cornell here takes Bill’s name off the new CompSci building.
OHHHHHKAY, third item on the agenda: Changing registrars.
I am so fucking sick and tired of GoDaddy trying to upsell me the second I log in and it takes 6 clicks to get to my list of domains that I just said fuck you and changed registrars. I’m not completely done because I just bought 2 more domains (have to wait 60 days) and I’m actively working on one (which I’ll get to when I get to).
Yes, that is why I moved from GoDaddy. Because I couldn’t find my list of domains in all that mess.
I have heard nothing good about GoDaddy I think… ever? Congrats. I am sure you found something better.
I had GoDaddy from a business I bought. It sucked wholesale.
Local Steve Smith update!
The tailgate was off of this guys pickup for the last month and I was expecting a sweet update from the last mural.
I was not let down.
Steve has a partner in crime now and it looks like they have the catch of the day!

That is fantastic.
My idea of responsible philanthropy is tossing rolls of quarters at bums from the back of my chauffeur driven Lagonda.
Toss 0,50€ coins at them.
It’s fun to watch them run for them and then realize they are worthless.
From experiance.
Wow that song has way more words than I ever considered

What could possibly go wrong?
Last weekend, dyed diesel was put into a pump in Alton that was meant for premium gas, leaving some customers wondering what was going on with their cars.
But he didn’t immediately smell it?
Unless the DOT dips your tank, nothing.
I am debating whether I should spend money and watch the tard fight between England and France. What say you all?
You’d be better off watching this Brits v French.

Neither team wants to be playing in the “loser off.”
I know. I will be out tomorrow and miss the real match.
I shall put that movie down for Audience Appreciation night. Might be good this Thursday.
One of them seems to be having a good time.
I certainly wouldn’t spend money on it. I’ll flip to it to check the score, but I won’t be watching. But those’ll be good ‘distraction flips.’ Trying to see how I want to spend the weekend, the first in a long time without work or the *search* for work to muddle me. I submitted the piece I was working on, though I do have a small one I can occupy myself with, though that may be unlikely.
Pretty much, just wanna lie down and *rest.* Like, ‘floating-hippo’ level DGAF. (Not used to this.)

Science is sexy
I think we have reached peak useful leftist idiot for the day.
I literally burst out laughing at the stupidity.
Maybe vote communist harder, dude. They are good at feeding the subjects.
If only there was a whole century of governments trying to do exactly that and not ending up with piles of bodies…
And if only there were a Government Program to feed the hungry. Oh well.
The piles of bodies were always the goal.
“I think most of us want to live in a world where people can put food on the table with dignity, and I hope we continue moving in that direction,” he added.
Don’t look in that ditch.
I would like to hear this good little foot-soldier hand-wave away the numerous videos of theft rings going into places like Walmart and literally just clearing shelves and walking out the door.
Patriarchy. Oppression. Late stage capitalism. Etc.
You’d be better off watching this Brits v French.
I was expecting this one.
That is acceptable as well.
They want Maine and Texas in the same time zone??
